The Harbour Development
Much to KDA’s credit, the group engaged in an ambitious project to turn the derelict harbour into a new housing development of great character. The Harbour Development consists of varied housing and apartments, with views over the Lough and a public Walkway / Promenade along the shoreline. It also consists of a picturesque Square, Sloane Square, which commemorates Killyleagh’s most famous son, Sir Hans Sloane, the Founder of the British Museum, (Sloane’s collection would later be split to form the British Library and the Natural History Museum). Sloane was also Patron of the Chelsea Physic Garden.
